St. Louis Part One: Metropolis
About halfway between Nashville and St. Louis is Metropolis, Illinois. Of course they have a big superman statue. This is my fourth time stopping by and we still had to stop and check it out.

there is also a superman museum. i thought it would be boring. but it is actually awesome.

did i tell you travis is really into planking now? you will be able to tell on this trip.

the vintage stuff is my favorite. and that is mostly what the museum is.

hook rug.

ryan brought props for a photo op.

i wanted to buy this pretty bad but 12 was too much. i hope i find a set at a thrift store. so funny.

back on the road for a few more hours!

Junior Deluxe Editions
we're back from our trip! it was really great. we squeezed a TON of stuff into the three days so as usual i am exhausted. one of these days i'll plan a trip where i just relax.
so anyway, while i go through the thousand photos i took, here is a collection i've been working on this year. junior deluxe editions!

i've found most of these at the goodwill outlet. they cost about 25 cents. They are from the 1950's and i love them.

they aren't worth very much. they usually sell for 5 or 6 dollars each but that isn't why i like them. i love the covers and the end papers and they are always beautifully illustrated. after i took these pictures i realized i have one more that i've had on my bookshelf for a long time. there are over 90 titles and i would love to find them all! they look really great on a bookshelf. i really want to find the alice in wonderland titles.
we've got a great collection of vintage children's books that I can't wait to display in our guest room if we ever get around to setting it up. or if we have a kid some day they will be pretty lukcy! at least, if they like vintage.

Going to grandmother's house
did i tell you we are going on a trip? maybe i didn't because every other trip we tried to take this year had to be cancelled and i didn't want to jinx it. we are leaving tomorrow for st. louis! (just two nights). i am really excited about it. i was not excited about taking the pugs to my parents house tonight. they dog sit for us. the house feels so empty and quiet without them!

all the essentials. food. vitamins. leashes. toys. a selection of dresses.

i found a cheap way to strap them in so i don't have to worry about priscilla somehow opening the door and falling onto the road. hook a carabiner through their harness and then through the seat belt! it worked perfectly!

the relaxed on the porch swing while i installed itunes on my dad's computer
(that is what he wanted for father's day)

haha, every picture of took of phyllis today was awkward. this was the least so.

be good little babies! i'll be back for you on monday!

Fur & Feathers.
Lauren posted some photos from the photoshoot of crystal that she did! here are my favorites! (this is pretty much all of them) look at those bunnies! and look how cute crystal is? totally worth all the bug bites (which are currently making me miserable and whiny.)

that rooster was SO COOL. he loved to be petted and held! who would have thought? check out lauren's flickr for some more of her awesome photography. i especially love her Avery's Antlers series. I can't wait to see the other shoots she does for the Fur & Feathers series.

Movies in the Park!
my famous homemade crackers. brittany made the themed cheese ball this time. oh man it was so good.
even the menu is cute.
i had onigiri and edamame. the edemame was a bad choice for the 96 degree afternoon. it was hot and took forever to eat! but it tasted really good.
brittany had a crepe and bethany had some tiny tacos. they were the only ones who braved the heat with me. even the pugs had to stay home.
the park was still packed.
we had great seats, as usual. that guy is a local dj on the top 40 station and he has the WORST dj name! LUNCHBOX. haha.
why do people freak out about free t shirts being thrown at them?
here is another clue, a BUTTER BEER POPSICLE!! you read that right. it was AMAZING. that probably gave it away. the grilled cheese truck has a weasley special but the line was super long so i never found out what it was.
brittany was smart and brought a pillow. look at that cute embroidery!
the movie started and it was awesome. harry potter and the deathly hallows part one. the only thing that sucked was the temperatures stayed high after the sun went down. but it was still wonderful to watch harry potter out under the stars. this week the movie is sherlock homes. we're going to go if it isn't sooooo hot. and i will not bring so much food next.

Bunny Rescue
it started off with a trip to waffle house for some really greasy delicious food. we've been working opposite shifts at work lately so it was nice to go on a little date.
then crystal came over and we packed up her car for the photoshoot we were going to. our friend lauren is doing lots of shoots to build up her portfolio and asked crystal to model for her. i went along to hold things. and to kiss bunnies. now obviously i can't show you anything about the actual shoot (but i'm definitely going to link to the photos when lauren posts them! i really can't wait to see them) but i can show you some cute bunny faces.
made me wish i could have a bunny!
don't worry travis, i know five animals is enough.
some of these two week old babies got to be used in the shoot! SO CUTE!!
henny penny. the handsome rooster. i got to pet him! unexpectedly cute. he made it into some photos as well. he was very good at posing.
i could have sat in that bunny room all day!
but we had to do the shoot.
i held all of crystal's bracelets for her. i won the bff bracelet contest we started back in november.
prop pile.
got some bike shots in as the sun was setting. i bet they will be stunning!
loved on some sweet great pyranese babies (there were lots of cute foster dogs there. all of them super sweet!) and then it was time to go. we had so much fun. even if today i have almost 40 bug bites on ONE knee (i guess i missed a spot with the bug spray)
