Estate Sale Report: Six In One Day!

This past weekend my friend Thomas was in the mood to check out some estate sales, and you know I was only too happy to oblige! We ended up going to six! Nothing incredible, but it was fun! Here are some highlights from the day:
Look at this beautiful house! It was in a part of town I'm not familiar with at all and Thomas and I kept getting distracted by the crazy mansions in the area. This one was more normal sized.
Oh gimme either one of these babies! They still worked, but weren't for sale.
 Yowza!
It was hard to get a good photo but this house had a crazy basement bar! One whole wall was Jack Daniels barrels. It looked cool, and felt you you were line for a ride at Disneyland.
Someday I'll have a basement. And maybe a bar. They just look so cool!
The house was weird. There wasn't much left, almost no furniture. But the old cleaning supplies were there. I like that Lan-o-sheen box especially.
There's nothing like an old appliance. So cute!
The spoils from that house! The reason I wanted to stop by was that Santa! They wanted 65 for him, but since it was the last day of the sale I got a MUCH better deal. I have been waiting for a good price on one of these guys! He turned out to have a music box embedded in him too! Oh Santa!
There was a random pile of newspaper in a garage and this 80's ad caught my eye. I want that ET clock! Or the Garfield sleeping bag! The cloud car is pretty awesome too.
 Personalized potholders!
 Another gorgeous stove.
Another basement rumpus room. Complete with panelling and a horse tapestry on a frame.
I kind of wish I had gotten that horse and foal print.
I did NOT buy this poodle candle with jewel eyes believe it or not.
Look at that babe carrying my vintage puzzles to the car. I'm glad he likes to spend his weekend looking through strangers houses.
I'm regretting leaving that carafe behind. I think it was half off too. Ah!
Check out that groovy dog. This sale looked promising but we didn't take anything home.
I almost got this boy scout flag. There was just something about it! But I didn't know where to put it.
Last but not least, a clown! This sale was awesome and filled with weird art and a huge doll house and the most amazing antique black forest mirror! But all the best stuff was either not for sale, or REALLY out of my price range. It was still fun to look.
After all that time we were starving so after Thomas dropped us off at home we went to our favorite little neighborhood Mediterranean place for lentil soup, fries, and hummus. It was so good!
As always, I'll be back tomorrow to show you what I picked up!

Godzilla Night at the Drive In!

Travis and I have been waiting for Godzilla to come out! Could there be a more perfect drive in movie?  We went down to HiWay50 in Lewisburg with our best friends Sunday night.
For some reason I thought it would be packed so we got there early. It was a beautiful night though! So we walked around and took too many photos.
I brought my little Godzilla along of course.
Super fan! I guess you can't really see my Godzilla shirt.
 Such a cute little guy.
It was a little chilly out, but I felt cozy once I got out a sleeping bag to wrap up in.
The best part of the drive in is the cheap food! I want to eat fries every time I watch a movie. We had fried pickles too! Yum!
 Yum!
The movie was awesome! I loved it! Godzilla looked so cool and the other monsters were GROSS and freaked me out. I ended up stuff in the back of Crystal and Marc's car and Travis sat in our car alone because he got tired of us laughing at carrying on. Haha, that is what I love about the drive in! I can talk as much as I want! Here's to many more nights at the drive in this summer! (though probably not this one again. You could see all that rust on the screen whenever the scene was light. lame.)

Vintage Photo Friday: Painted Backdrops

Here is another little subset of my vintage photo collection! These are all photos taken in front of painted backdrops. I plan on putting these all into a small vintage photo album. I think they look cool all together.
A mama and her little baby. Look at her beautiful hair and flawless makeup? And that little hooded sweater is darling. I love her expression too, a little hint of a smile. Precious.
Look at that snazzy butterfly pocket!
My only tinted one like this. I want to know that the deal is with her outfit, why is she dressed so masculinely and look at the waist on those pants!
Aren't these two sweet? That palm tree in back makes me think that maybe they are on vacation. ANd look at that part! I wonder if it is shaved in. Travis has been getting that done lately and I LOVE it!
This one isn't the same, but it is similar. So many patterns! And I'm into her flowered hat. I wonder if I could pull one like it off?
I know I've shared this photo before, it is one of my absolute favorites! Those uniforms! The mustaches! That guy in the middle's expression!
Last but not least, the vendor I bought this from had a few of these and I wish I had gotten them all. I love the "Always Thinking of You" sign. I guess you could get a photo like this and give it to your sweetheart. Isn't he cute? I really like his striped shirt.

Collection 23: 1940's Novelty Pinbacks

This is a newish collection, but one I'm really into! When I buy jewelry I usually stick to brooches, and so I always look through old pinback buttons when I see them. The first one of these I picked up was the "So's Your Old Man" one. When I've tried researching them all I can really find is that they are from the 40's. The big buttons aren't as old, but I like that they are in the same style, and are weird.
I don't come across them that much, but when I do I will pick them up if they aren't too much money. I love that they are all kinda rude or weird.
I did some searching on Ebay to see what else was out there. Here are some I would pick up for myself! I would link you, but they are old auctions. And I'm lazy, haha! Also, some people on ebay price them up to 25 dollars! Which seems crazy! I won't pay more than five, and that's only if I REALLY like it. I really want the vampire kid one!
There you go, a weird little collection that I hope to add to a lot this year!

Finds!

Here are my finds from the sales I posted about yesterday. Just a few things. Travis and I both love those white bowls that are made to put under a stand mixer. They are such a good size for mixing stuff up and storing it in the fridge. I picked up that knit hat because it is my house colors (Gryffindor!) and it actually fits my big head!
And of course I got that scottie dog! Do you even know me? Haha. I can't resist a googly eye! And for some reason that weird little doll made out of fabric yo-yos just called to me. He was in the bottom of a box in a basement. Probably haunted.
I picked up these straw trivets because I knew they would look good on our table for our weekly taco nights!
This dream pet isn't in good shape, but that little R on his chest made it so I had to bring him home. There is also a lightening bolt on the back of his cape!
Close up of my new buck head! The body is out under our carport, creeping me out every time I pull in at night. Hopefully we'll fix him next weekend.
Look at these cute slippers! The pom poms! They will come in handy when it gets cold again.
And just a few records. I love Skeeter Davis, I actually went to her estate sale, years ago! I should find those photos on my hard drive. I can't remember if I got any cool ones of the house. And Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass is the PERFECT background dinner music. I'm making it a goal for us to eat at the table more with records playing. We'll see how it goes.
So that's my little haul! I haven't checked the listings for this weekend yet, hope there are a few cool houses to scope out!
