Finally back at estate sales...

We hadn't really been out to any estate sales this year so far. Mostly because we were saving money for our trip. But this past week we finally go a chance to go out. I was off and Travis didn't until 1:30 so we got to hit up three sales! The first was this house. It was full of awesome furniture, but when we showed up about half an hour after it started it was pretty much all sold! It was worth it though, I got some good stuff, and ran into Mr Kistch, even though I didn't know it at the time. He totally saved me from buying a set of cards thinking it had cute dogs on it, when it was really lame swans. Haha, I'm forever in your debt!

We spotted this amazing mailbox on our way to another sale! I got Travis to pull over to I could take a picture. The guy in the backyard was acting weird and had a TON of big barking dogs so I snapped just one quick on then we hurried away. I must have a kooky mailbox someday!
The next sale we went to had tempted me with this amazing picture. I seriously wanted everything in it! I had to open (6 am!!) so Travis was sweet and got to the sale when it opened in hopes of getting me a few little pixies. Sadly someone in front of him in line scooped up all of them! And those two boxes of Santas and snowmen. Wah!

We went on the second day and there was still a little bit of Christmas stuff left. Now I wish I would have left a bid on those angels laying down on the right.
I'm really excited because one of the girls who owns this company has started a blog! I am fascinated by estate sales (obviously) and it is fun getting a kind of behind the scenes look! She and her parents run the sales and are really nice, too! And I feel like they always have sales with stuff I'm interested in, I don't know how.
There was something about these paper fruits with velvet leaves. They were more than I usually like to pay for stuff (I usually don't spend more than 3 bucks per item) but I just loved them. I don't even know what I'm going to do with them!
Pretty nice little haul for my first day back! I'll show you some close ups tomorrow!
Once Travis went to work a friend came over and we went to The Smiling Elephant. I've been talking about going forever, just never made it. It is a Thai restaurant.

I haven't had much Thai food so it was really hard to decide! I had Prik Khing curry fried rice with tofu. It was SO GOOD! Next time I'll ask for it to be spicey. I had Thai tea to drink and it was so delicious. I can't wait to go back!

  4. YAY Thai food and estate sales, sounds like the perfect day! I went to an estate today too but it was kind of a bust. It was still fun looking though and I still came away with a few treasures. It's too bad I didn't know you were looking for sitting pixies-- a thrift store in my neighborhood had a Christmas Tree FULL of them in December but I didn't end up buying any of them! Will be on the lookout for you from now on. :)

    1. oh man, i LOVE sitting pixies. I only have one! And it was sent to me by a sweet blog friend when i was crying a river about not being able to find any. the nashville thrift stores haven't been kind to me lately, i think there are too many vintage fans around.

  6. Mr. Kitsch says you're welcome. I still wonder if I am tacky enough to have loved the lame swans. We'll never know. We ate at The Smiling Elephant today. Good lord, it's good.
