What I found!

Check out this haul from the estate sale I posted about yesterday! It might be my favorite of the year. There was so much good stuff that was right up my alley! I think the person who owned the house must have been a dealer because there were antique booth type tags on a lot of this stuff. Look at this fun pile! I hardly know where to start!
Photobucket
I found a poodle ashtray! And this precious dachshund serving piece.
Photobucket
And two chalk ware dogs! The little bull dog is so sweet, and I really love the dachshund book ends. I passed him up on the first day and regretted it. Thankfully he was waiting for me on the third day!
Photobucket
A little made in Japan skunk, a humpty, a weird/cute vintage clown plate, and some groovy tacks!
Photobucket
Here are the dream pets I chose! It was SO HARD to pick! I'm pretty happy with this crew.
Photobucket
Look at the pretty lady octopus! So gorgeous. I really love her. Turns out a reader went to the same sale and bought more of the dream pets! But they got them on discount day! You lucky duck!
Photobucket
This is silly and missing one of the feet but I like it. Of course.
Photobucket
A little bit of Christmas! I didn't see this deer the first day, and I collect them! I'm glad she was still there, tucked in a bag of cute ornaments.
Photobucket
This spun head angel was a sweet surprise when I got home and opened the bag.
Photobucket
I ended up buying four games at the sale! I'll show you the other three in a day or two, but I was excited to to pick this game up! I've never played before but the box is cute! And inside...
Photobucket
How cute are those pieces?
Photobucket
I found this fun Captain Kangaroo record, and this Rocky Horror 15th Anniversary box set!
Photobucket
Even thought it was tapes, I still couldn't resist. The middle tape is the songs in a bunch of different languages! It came with a cool book too. The first day of the sale I found an audience participation record, but put it back. I'm regretting that now!
Photobucket
This vintage ghost blow mold is missing his pumpkin, for for about 1.50 I can doctor him up. I should have taken the picture after I scrubbed the crud off. I got some cute trick or treat bags too.
Photobucket
At the second sale I came across a box full of pictures. The were selling them four for a buck so I picked out a bunch, of course. I got the cute old photo album there too.
Photobucket
I was super stoked to find these two! A black bear peeking in a tourists car, and a roadside chief! Jacob did a great post about these chiefs you can check out here.
Photobucket
I couldn't resist this sweet couple on the top of the waterfall.
Photobucket
This is Edna Belou and a poodle in 1922. I wonder where they were. What a cute little boat.
Photobucket
And last but not least I had to get this picture of these two men goofing off in front of a store. I love old pictures of people being silly. The subjects usually seem to serious! Lisa picked up a copy of the same photo! And some great war time photos. What a small world!

Estate Sale Report

After a few weekends of mediocre sales, I was happy to get some great stuff over the weekend! Here are some pictures, as usual:
Gorgeous weather all weekend. It is dreary and cold now.
I love these old paperback covers. I held myself back and just picked two, there were a few boxes full!
This house was CRAZY. FULL of beautiful mid-century stuff. Which meant there was also super crowded. The first day you could barely walk around! I wish I had gotten more pictures of the amazing (and HIGH PRICED) furniture! I went back on Saturday and most of the good stuff was gone. I wish I would have asked about those curtains. I liked that lamp shade on the left too.
I ran into Lauren from Apron Strings Vintage on the first day! She made out like a bandit!

Look at this bathroom! I love the pink tile with that great wallpaper. We are getting estimates to get the tile redone in our bathroom (because we have too, not because we want too) and I'm wondering if doing a retro style renovation will be in my budget at all. It sucks to have to do it before I have money saved up to do what I really want.
Creepy sad eye kids.
On my second trip we found this creepy pipe made out of some kind of bird foot! My good friend Thomas bought it! We keep going to sales to find him stuff like furniture for his house, but come out with stuff like this! Or cast iron skeleton banks.
I found this on my second trip too. But I wasn't tempted if you can believe it, haha!
There were tons of great games at this sale! Including this Jaws game that I have wanted forever! A girl picked it up on the table mere moments before I got to it! Argh!! I did get to see this knock of Scooby Doo game.
And this knock off "Star World" case!
I about puked when I saw this box full of Dream Pets and dream pet like toys! I had actually jut noticed one and then looked to the left and there was a whole box! They were 6 bucks each, and I already had a big pile so I only let myself get 5. I wish I would have gotten them all!
I saw this car outside one of the sales. I kept a lookout for someone that looked like they would be totally into Harry Potter but didn't see anyone. I wonder why they had all that stuff written on their now. There was stuff all over the front windows too.
After the sales we stopped by a local antique mall I have been meaning to check out called Gas Lamp II. I was really impressed by Lauren's booth! Her taste is similar to mine and I wanted to buy so much! I actually almost bought those concrete mushrooms at an estate sale but I already had too much stuff! I ended up with something from here that I'll show you a little further down.
They had a super cute shop cat too! I looooooooooooove that. Almost as good as the shop pug in Nostalgia in Knoxville.
I also loved this crazy Christmas booth! What a great display. That huge Christmas tree was full of beautiful vintage ornaments. I wonder how they found so many good ones!
Here is a dorky picture of me sitting in a fancy chair waiting for Travis.
And here is a crappy phone picture of the squirrel I bought! Geeze, so now I have two! I love him and his sad face. He reminds me of Priscilla. Now I just have to find the perfect place to hang him!

Currently...

Oh man, I've been sick for a week! Mostly just terrible window rattling coughs and a completely stuffed up nose. It is getting really old. Thankfully I think I'm finally on the tail end of it. I've been taking vitamin C and fenugreek/thyme like crazy!
Do you like my KALE sweatshirt? I got it free from work and it is one of the dorkiest things I own.
I have some great finds to show you, but I haven't gone through the pictures yet. I went to a really amazing sale this past week and I can't wait to show you! Until then I thought I would fill out this little survey. I've never done it before, but I've always enjoyed seeing other bloggers do it!

currently:
loving: Rupaul's Drag Race All Stars!! Is anyone else watching it? I love that they brought back the fan favorites, thought I wish it was going to be a whole season! I'm team Latrice/Manilla, but wouldn't be made if Jujubee/Raven won. They post the episodes on logotv.com every Tuesday if you are interested! In my opinion it is the best show on television!
reading: I just finished How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran. I had high hopes as it was supposed to be a modern, funny, take on feminism, but it was just ok. Next I'm going to read Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it! I have also been rereading all my Clutch zines, since I finally got issue 19. I used to order tons of zines and indie comics a few years ago, and I'm trying to get back in the habit. It is a great way to support small business.
watching: I just rewatched Freaks and Geeks on netflix and am sad all over again that there is only one season. Such a bummer. We watched a National Geographic documentary on North Korea last night that kind of blew my mind. And full disclosure, Travis and I are currently watching Magic Mike! Haha, he rented it! Have you watched anything interesting on Netflix instant lately? I can always use suggestions!
thinking about: The upcoming holiday retail season and how much I'm dreading it! Maybe someday I won't be in retail and I'll be able to enjoy it more.
anticipating: Putting up my Christmas decorations! And a trip I get to take to Naples, Florida because of work after Thanksgiving. And I'm looking forward to election season being over. So much unpleasantness everywhere. I'll be glad when the winner is announced and I can stop worrying about it.
listening too: Mostly podcasts. My favorites are The Nerdist, Ronna and Beverly, and This American Life. Today while deep cleaning our room I listened to the Backstreet Boys station on Pandora and really loved it! Lots of Boyz II Men and power ballads to sing along too. I finally bought the most recent Tilly and the Wall record as well. It is ok.
working on: Pricing Christmas stuff for my booth. I need to go in and see my numbers for October but honestly I'm scared to.

October Flea Finds

Here it what I ended up with from the October flea market. See, not very much. Travis was with me, which explains a lot. He is often the voice of reason. The first thing we picked up was that Neil Armstrong pennant! I hadn't see one with a picture glued in before! It will look cute in our kitchen. We have blue walls with random red stuff hung up everywhere.
I actually took a picture of this owl back in April! This time I couldn't resist those browned google eyes.
A little poodle in my favorite style.
I used to have a tea pot like this but the cats broke it! I finally found a replacement at a descent price.
And check out this cowboy light! It will be PERFECT for the day when I make my wild west guest room a reality! The lady who was selling it was so excited that someone was into it.
As usual I spent most of my money on pictures! I can't help it! These were all from one vendor. He had a great box of photos from a family that was really into their dogs. Since I collect vintage dog pictures it was a total jackpot for me!
We got tis one for Travis' medical collection. Lungs with tuberculosis.
Do you think that is a monkey fur coat?? And look at that hat!
I like how the baby looks forgotten for the dogs. That is me when I'm in a room with a baby and a dog.
This group of beagles makes lots of appearances. I love that this family loved their dogs so much. Even after they have kids the dogs are featured prominently in their family pictures.
That dog is labeled as Nogi.
Can you see how pregnant the beagle is in this picture? Cute. There is a picture of her with new puppies in that pile somewhere too.
Christmas with the dogs. And a duck! There is a whole series from this photoshoot. I love that duck!
I got this one for the toy in the foreground. I saw the same set at an estate sale earlier this year (i swear i took a picture but I guess I didn't post it). The different sections are different bright colors like aqua and pink. And check out the little matching table and chair set! How cute.
I can't wait for next month's flea!
