I can't resist old googly eyes! The vendor wasn't in this booth so I couldn't even ask the price. That was a recurring theme. I went on Friday instead of my usual Saturday or Sunday, so that might have made a difference.
Gorgeous set of dishes. It was really well priced, but I don't need ANY more dishes. It was in this booth that I met ModFruGal! I'm so glad she said hi to me because I love her blog! It's so funny, I see Nashville bloggers around all the time and I'm usually to shy to say anything. I've got to start getting better about that!
All of a sudden I keep seeing this kind of Barbie stuff around and it is SO CUTE. I'm not even into Barbie at all, I just love the style. I saw a great lunch box like this at a local antique mall that I would have snapped up if it hadn't been $175!
I wish I had stayed around to find the vendor to ask about this amazing thing. The plastic over it is a dome, and it has a picture of a girl in her coffin, and then the flowers are all 3D. Ugh, I really love it. A woman walking by took a second look when she saw me take a picture then gave me the most disgusted look. Haha. I know, I'm a total weirdo.
Another thing I loved. He wanted 65 dollars for it, and I just couldn't do it. But it really is a great collection of Halloween photos and ephemera. I actually went back because that is how much cash I had left at the end, but I'm just too cheap. I hope someone awesome bought it.
Ok Nashville friends, I want one of these birdbaths SO BAD. This is the second one I've seen at the Nashville Flea. The first time I wasn't willing to pay 100 dollars for it, this time it was sold. For real if you see one please let me know! I have been looking for a bird bath for 4 years and this is really the only one I love.
I really love the flea market. I walked out with a basket full of stuff and only spent 30 dollars. I will say, taking the basket that I always take to estate sales was a bad idea I think. Vendors seemed to think I was out to steal stuff with it and I ended up leaving one of my favorite vendor stalls really quickly because he was hovering and being rude. So I won't take the basket again. It sucked!
You gals & your big ol' Fleas! We haven't got a decent one anywhere near us, but I have so much fun reading about my favorite bloggers & their Flea Market adventures. Can't wait to see what you picked up, you have such impeccable taste ... I would have had a hard time leaving that framed Halloween collection behind.
ReplyDeleteugghh i know, i keep thinking about that halloween collection 65 is a lot for me though. ALSO the guy selling it was like "i can't confirm this at all, but the guy who sold it to me swore this guy (points to guy is almost all the pictures") is dead". it looked like that too! so creepy and awesome.
DeleteSuper creepy! Yes, $65 is an awful lot ... even if they guy was actually dead.
DeleteI feel like I say this all the time, but we really do have similar tastes! I love the seahorse bird baths too and I'm a total weirdo for old funeral photos as well (and that one was really great!) And ditto on the Halloween collection (pricey, but really cool). Can't wait to see your treasures!!
ReplyDeleteGosh - I love the pattern on the pyrex dish!!
ReplyDelete$65 does seem high....it was great to meet you "IRL" and I'm sure I'll see you around the sales and fleas! Those dishes were pretty great too. Looking forward to seeing what you got.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell how old that picture with the coffin is, but I do know that in Victorian times through the early 1900s it was "thing" to take pre-burial portrait photos of dead loved ones either in their coffins or set up in a really elaborate bed. So that could be what it is...also, I can't tell what the lacy stuff is around the edges of each section, but people around that time used to also make woven decorations out of family members' hair. My friend's family has one of those as an heirloom that is huge and obviously has about 15 different people's hair included. So creepy!
ReplyDeletethat is so creepy and awesome! i hope the vendor still has it next month (and is in their freaking booth so i can ask the price!) every time i look at it i regret that i didn't bring it home!
DeleteI'd always wanted a birdbath like that one too and I found out they still make them. I bought one at one of those concrete places. It was a few years back but I think I payed $40 or so for it. I also bought a smaller one for like $25 and a little mini one. I always had the idea of stacking them on top of each other, but that never happened!
ReplyDeleteoooo good to know! I am going to keep a lookout! i don't really care if it is really vintage or not, i just love the style!
DeleteOh no! Now that I've seen those Breyer horses I may have to find a way up there... I've wanted some for ages and ages. More the bulls than the horses (I have a bull thing) but the horses, too!
ReplyDeleteThat Halloween collection is a heartbreaker. I'm glad you got a picture of it, at least. That takes the sting out somehow. I have no idea why that is! But I always feel better if I can get a picture of it.
there are so many things i've been able to resist because i have a picture of it! taking pictures saves me a lot of money! haha
DeleteI just want to say that I'm in love with your blog. I went through and read the whole thing and think you are such a refreshing lady! So many other blogs get caught up in being a "genre" like a craft blog or food blog etc, so I love that you just blog about your daily life. It's so much more interesting. Thanks for being awesome.
ReplyDeletethank you! that is so nice! My favorite kind of blogs are ones that are about people's lives, not ones that are about one topic, so that is the kind of blog I try to make!
DeleteOh my. That post mortem mourning piece is amazing! What I wouldn't give to own one of those elaborate displays! Right now I only have a small collection of post mortem photos, all loose and without the mourning display. And the Halloween stuff?! Eek! Want!
ReplyDeletei'm really regretting not tracking down the vendor. i haven't ever seen anything like that for sale!
DeleteI think I'd have some kind of panic attack if i went there, there is way too much cool stuff!!
ReplyDeleteAHHH! Why didn't you buy the coffin dome art? I don't care if a lady gave you a weird look, It was amazing.
ReplyDeleteugggh i know i have a feeling this one will haunt me for awhile. i walked past a few more times but never saw someone at that booth. i'm going to cross my fingers that he/she still has it next month??
Deletei can't wait to see what you came home with!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Pyrex you love, Mod Kitchen, is on my wishlist. I would have totally snatched it up in a heartbeat. You are lucky to have such awesome places to go treasure hunting. I'm jealous :)
