Sling Time!

It is that time of year again! When it is nice enough to take the dogs on a walk, but not so hot that they are melting within 5 minutes of leaving the house! We took a short walk with them today, and of course my favorite part is when Phyllis gets tired of hopping (about two blocks) and has to get in her sling!
I love seeing a man holding a tiny dog in a sling. I bought it from TJ Maxx when I was in there looking for a trash can for work. It is by Outward Hound and it so awesome! If you have a little disabled/spoiled dog I highly recommend it!
It was so nice out! I say it every year, but I hope we'll take more walks before it gets super hot.
Priscilla got a little time in the sling too! Look at that face!
In other news, my rose bush is blooming! I was wondering if it would ever start, and in the last two days it has gotten covered in blooms! I don't know what kind of rose bush it is, it was here when we moved in. Aren't they pretty though?
And one more of Priscilla because I just couldn't resist!
Today has been a great day. It is my first day off in over two weeks where I wasn't interviewing, or working 10 hours on a photoshoot! It was nice to have nothing I HAD to do and Travis was off too! We did some vintage shopping (I'll show you soon!) and saw The Source Famliy, and at veggie dogs at the Dog of Nashville. Now we're relaxing with the dogs and watching King of the Hill. Glorious!

InstaLife

So much has been happening lately! And most of it is awesome! Here is a little life update courtesy of my Instagram. Guys, I am completely obsessed with Instagram! Here are a few important/interesting/cute things that have happened in the two months since I did a post like this.
Most importantly I got a new job! Well, the same job, at a different store! I'm really excited about it, and here I am celebrating with a delicious strawberry/cucumber lime aid! I start next week and I'm a little nervous but ready for the change. Preparing for my interview was nerve wracking but I ended up doing great and being super confident (a first for me!)
Also, check out my finished half sleeve! I love how it turned out, and I was happy to finally finish it and start something new!

The weather here has been amazing, like everywhere else I'm sure. We've been opening the windows and hanging out in the yard and on restaurant patios.
Here are the babies watching Travis eat hummus. Notice Phyllis' supportive paw on his leg.
I assisted my friend Brett with a photoshoot the other day. You know the one who took these amazing portraits of us? It was a blast and featured a local drag queen so you know I was in! It is going to be in a local magazine and I'll share more once it comes out! Brett is super talented and also an amazing person. We has so much fun that day, even if I got a little sunburned and had sore arms the next day from holding the light! In that bottom picture I'm standing in while Brett checks things in his camera. I'm not so different from a drag queen in a red stoned gown right? I WISH.
In other tattoo news, I started on this new piece that I have been talking about for years! Who knew I would ever post a picture of my bare leg on the internet, but I had to show this baby off! Little Shop of Horrors has been my favorite movie forever! I absolutely love how this has turned out so far. As usual, my work is done by Jason St. Clair at Flash City.

I'm so in love with it! Even if right now it is at that annoying itchy flakey stage.
My best friend gave me a makeover last week too. Apparently my new job has made me bold and wanting some changes. She dyed my hair for me, it is a reddish brown now, and she chopped off my bangs. I'm going in for a haircut next week and I'm thinking about trying something completely new. We'll see.
A bunch of my friends were excited to see The Great Gatsby (and so was I!) We had a little get together before and Kyle made this fun Pin The Coat Tails on Gatsby game! Check out Gatsby's booty!
For the record, I LOVED the movie! I don't know why it is getting such bad reviews. It was beautiful and over the top and exactly what I wanted it to be! Did you see it yet? Did you hate it or love it?
My favorite face. Also, check out Priscilla in the back. She is mad that she isn't sitting on me too.
I haven't done much estate sale shopping this year. I went to two today (we made some new friends who like old junk too! exciting!) and this is all I got. But what a doozy of a decoration! It is mounted on styrofoam and look at those blue plastic feathers! Gorgeous!
And last but not least, my sweet Phyllis.

Honeymoon Scrapbook Continued!

Here is the rest of the scrapbook I posted about yesterday
Can you read it? It says they fished for three hours and caught nothing, then their Shell Island trip got cancelled! What a bummer! But it looks like they got a nap in there.
Isn't that a cute goofy golf brochure? I love the "Ya'll Come" on the pennant!
And of course I had to zoom in on the skyride illustration! Look at those 2 pooties! Haha!
This is one of the six FULL SIZE menus that she saved. The other ones were actually too big to fit in the book! And here is the inside:
Don't you love seeing the prices of things too? 25 cents for some homemade ice box pie! What a good deal!
Here is Roy doing some porpoise watching.
About ten pages in it looks like Jenny ran out of patience (or time more likely!) for her scrapbook, but there is tons more stuff tucked in the pages.
I want to stay at the holiday lodge! I wonder if it is still there! Look at the great bathing suits on the front of the Long Beach Resort brochure, and the striped bag!
Ugh, it is just too perfect! see the dining room?
And the pool! And that ROOM! And the turquoise wall!
I love the fish shape around the photo of the boat. It's making me want to go to Florida!
There are a bunch of cards and notes from well wishers tucked in there!
I love this little part of a bigger menu. The french fried onion rings right next to the manhattans and martinis! And they are perfect for after beach parties or the dog track!
And last but not least, here is a receipt from one of their hotel stays. I hope you guys enjoyed this!

1962 Honeymoon Scrapbook!

I cannot believe I haven't shown this to you guys yet!! One of my best friends in the world gifted this scrapbook to me before Christmas, and it is amazing! I have to split it up into two posts because I couldn't narrow down what I wanted to show you! Look how stuffed full it is!
It is a honeymoon album! It belonged to Roy and Jenny and it looks like they were married in May of 1962.
It looks like they had a little trip to a state park right after the wedding, and then went on a longer trip to Panama City a little while later. I love the beautiful postcards Jenny put into this scrapbook.
Here we see the newlyweds! How cute are they? I LOVE her dress! And I love all the sweet pictures they took of each other throughout the books.
Can't you just see Roy asking his new bride to pose by these flowers?
I love the way Jenny filled out the scrapbook! See the little orange juice drawing? We stopped at the same welcome center for free orange juice when we went to Florida last year!
And look at the Mara Vista! Why don't hotels give out postcards anymore? See the cars parked there? Also, check out that 50 year old sugar packet!
Another old sugar packet! And that toothpick!
Why they heck did they get up at 4:30?
The Noah's menu is one of the cutest things I've ever seen! Look at those illustrations! I'm not sure what I like better, the poison bottle on the cocktail menu, or that octopus with the bandana and hat.
They must have been big fishers because they fished a LOT on this trip. I had to include this because I absolutely love that "Durn algae" illustration!
Some great fishing pictures! I like that they had black and white plus color pictures! I wonder why?
Another great illustration, look at that hat!
The hat she is wearing in this photo doesn't look as elaborate as the one she drew, but it is just as tall! How precious is she posing on the diving board for her husband!
I'll be back tomorrow to show you some more. Did you go somewhere fun on your honeymoon? We went to New York City and it was awesome! It is all documented to death  on my old blog, maybe I should migrate some of those posts over to this one!

Recipe Round Up!

I have a few more awesome recipes to share with you! We've been trying lots of things since I last posted a round up in January, but these are the really good ones we've added to our regular rotation. They are all vegan of course, and I've got some really good desserts this time! And obviously the pictures aren't mine. Click the link underneath to get the recipe!
Beet Burger from Yummy Mummy Kitchen
I hadn't eaten beets before but I decided to be brave and try these burgers. I was pleasantly surprised! The basil gives the burger a super fresh taste! We will definitely be making these this summer!
Vegan Mac and Cheese from Oh Dear Drea.
Drea has the best recipes. Bummer she isn't posting many anymore because she is maybe going to put out a cookbook. I'm so happy she shared this vegan mac and cheese recipe! It is so delicious and perfect for one of those days you need some comfort food. When it is hot, you could probably trick a cheese eater, it is so creamy! It tastes even better as leftovers!
Sugar Cookies by Yummy Mummy Kitchen
These cookies roll out and cook up just like sugar cookies but with coconut oil instead of butter! The batter was delicious and I'll be sure making these next Christmas. I haven't tried the icing yet, but I bet it is good too.
Chocolate Yogurt Bundt Cake from the Post Punk Kitchen.
We've made this cake probably four times! It is what I had for my birthday and what I took for Easter to my family's house. It is dense and rich and tastes perfect with fresh strawberries! I like to make it with vanilla coconut so delicious yogurt!
Trifecta Cookies by My Girl Thursday
And these cookies! Oh my gosh, they are the BEST! I have made them a BUNCH! They are vegan AND gluten free but you would never guess! They are flourless and amazing. I have taken them to work meetings and parties and no one ever guesses they are vegan! It is a winning recipe for sure!

Have you made anything really good lately? I've got a ton of soups pinned that I can't wait to try out!
