A day in great detail

When I had a live journal I was obsessed with the Day in the Life communities. Basically you took tons of photos of your day, showing every little detail. I remember my favorite community had a 100 image limit and sometimes it was hard for me to narrow it down! Haha, I've never been good at editing.
I decided to try and document my day last Friday, my day off. Here goes!
One of my favorite things to do when I'm off is go get the dogs from their room when I wake up, put them in bed with me and read for a few hours. Phyllis and Priscilla love it!
Finally decide to get up about 10:30. I let Scampi in our room too, she loves to lay on my pillow with me. Which is why we keep her out at night.
Late breakfast and more reading. I'm super into the Rip's Big Bowl cereal right now. I bought a bunch of boxes when it was on sale at my Whole Foods. It's especially good if you load it up with fresh fruit.
Always there, always lurking.
Getting ready for the day. Remember my goal this year is to get over myself and do what I want without worrying about looking dumb? So I've been wearing cat eyes and lipstick most days. I've been listening to my spotify dance party mix all day every day! We finally bought a Bluetooth speaker so I can easily have a solo dance party.
I always have an audience. Priscilla was sitting on my feet.
I decided to head out to an estate sale that looked pretty good. It advertised a 70 year accumulation, 50's and 60's stuff, so I thought I'd give it a try. I listened to Rupaul's podcast on the way. It is the best.
The drive took me way out of town, down near the Natchez Trace parkway. I bet it would have been a nice drive in the spring.
I made it!
It was a big bummer. 70 year accumulation my foot! There was almost no furniture, and just a few tables of items in each room. The basement was perfectly cleaned out! I saw a couple cute things. Like that little guy with the trumpet.
And that embroidered kitty towel. Look at this picture I'm so mad I didn't notice the folding rack it is hanging on! I've been looking for one of those for a few months! Dangit!
This sign made me laugh.
I carried this pot holder around for a while. It is so cute! But I really don't need another pot holder that is too pretty to use. I have a whole drawer full!
Here is all I bought. Two Golden Books from the 70's for a buck fifty each. Eh. Not worth the over an hour round trip. Oh well.
Went to the grocery store on the way home to get some supplies to make a vegan strawberry coffee cake. But then I couldn't find non-dairy yogurt so it had to wait a few more days.
Pups are ready to be fed, even though I was only gone two hours.
Check the mail, my tickets to Drag Race: Battle of the Seasons came! It isn't until March but I can't wait! Bonus it is in Louisville!
It is such a beautiful day! It was overcast here for the last two months and I'm happy to see the sun out. Take the pugs into the backyard for a potty break. No matter how nice it is outside, they are always eager to go back in so they can fall asleep on the couch.
I sit with them and start up a documentary. I'm trying to clear off our Netflix queue. I watching nothing but Gilmore Girls for a while and now the queue is over 200 deep! This one is called Crazy Love about an insane obsessive relationship. Watch it, it's bonkers! Then make it a double crazy feature and watch Tabloid.
Made myself some fries and a grilled cheese for lunch. Fellow vegans, if you have not had the new Field Roast cheese product Chao yet, run to your local health food store! It is AMAZING. I also treat myself to a Bundaberg ginger beer. Travis doesn't like them because they are too spicy, but they are perfect for me!
Travis came home around 4? 5? And I got distracted and didn't take any photos for a little bit. We went to the bargain matinee of Inherent Vice. I LOVED it! For a lot of the film I was totally confused but still enjoying myself, which doesn't happen that much for me. Joaquin Phoenix is so good in it. Totally recommend.
I got a Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas so we went there to spend it. I didn't have any books I wanted so we looked at games. Why are all the board games 40 to 70 dollars??? Has it always been like that? What is going on?? I did see anything I wanted that was a reasonable price so was about to walk out when I saw this:
Isa Moskowitz is the queen of vegan cooking and I have been wanting this book since it came out! I had totally forgotten. I have most of her other books and every single recipe I've tried is amazing. She is actually coming here to do a cooking demonstration in just a few weeks and I'm dying to go but it's really expensive.
They ordered pizza several times in Inherent Vice so I was in the mood for a slice. We went to Mellow Mushroom and they sat us all alone in this weird back room in a booth for 10 people. There was a bunch of stuff stacked up in there to like it was a storage room. So strange. The pizza was good though!
We got one with daiya cheese, artichoke hearts, and roasted red peppers. Yum! After we ate we headed home and probably sat on the couch for a while, then went to bed. What a fun day.
I'm off again tomorrow and am determined to make the most of it because after that I'm working seven days in a row. Ugh.

A Day In Great Detail

My Saturday started out pretty great. I put on Pandora and one of my favorite songs to dance too came on first thing! "Get Me Bodied" rules. I tried to get Travis to dance to it with me while we got ready, but it didn't work. Ha!
Murray is very helpful first thing in the morning.
I took on smoothie duty. We bought a Vitamix in the fall and I highly recommend them! I have a smoothie almost every morning, and always with at least 2 cups of kale!
Supplement time! I get lots of supplement samples at work, so I'm making myself actually take them! It has lasted about two weeks so far, we'll see how long I can keep it up.
A little selfie to show you I'm ready to go!
We put the girls in their room and leave for our first destination...
We went to the Belcourt to see All Dogs Go To Heaven! As you can see, they were doing a Don Bluth series and sadly this was the only one I was able to go to. I would have LOVED to see The Secret of Nimh or The Land Before Time on the big screen.
After the movie we went to our favorite place in Nashville for lunch. Their buffet is so good! Everything there is vegetarian, and almost everything on the buffet is vegan too.
Mmmm I want to go back right now! Those hakka noodles in the middle are one of my favorite things to eat there. And those little lentil donuts in the back!
We did a little grocery shopping next. We had to pick up a few things because we were going to make some food to take to my aunt's house for dinner that night. I like the challenge of making a few vegan things to share that everyone will like.
Had to include a shot of the cutest grocery bag I have!
Then it was time the main event of the day! Do you follow Maddie? If you are a dog lover you are going to love it! I like her owner's instagram, thiswildidea, and his Why We Rescue project is amazing!
Her owner Theron is a wonderful photographer and gave a really inspiring talk. The best part was Maddie running around through the crowd looking for people to pet her the whole time. What a cutie.
The line to get books signed was so long! We waited over an hour!
Look at that posing pro! I got to pet Maddie a few times. It was awesome!
He had a stamp made of her paw print which is pretty great.
It was such a fun book signing! They are going to have Garrison Keillor sometime later this year which is pretty exciting!
We went home after that and scrambled to get our food ready for our dinner plants that night. Priscilla loves hanging out in the kitchen with us.
I made this raw vegan No Bake Strawberry Chocolate Pie from The Joy of Vegan Baking, and it was amazing! I will definately make it again before strawberries go out of season. It seemed to be a hit at dinner, there was none left to bring home!
After this we mostly just sat around and talked with my family until it got dark. It was a pretty great day off!

A day in great detail

Back when I was obsessed with Live Journal (1999-2011) one of my favorite things to do was post in the A Day in my Life community. You told the story of your day in 70 photos and it used to be awesome. Then the mod got really weirdly strict and people started posting whole days of phone photos and I lost interest. But I still love the idea, though a 70 photo post doesn't make sense on a public blog. So here is a day in 25 pictures!
I have quite an audience this morning. We are baby sitting sweet Chloe again.
I get an early start (well, 9 isn't that early I guess) and use my phone to find a lab test place.
Getting blood drawn for the second time in a week! She had to do both arms and dug around and I still have bruises. Ugggghhhh. I'm fine by the way, just looking into biometrics.
After my test I head out of town for an estate sale.
Look at this great air stream! It was HUGE! If only I was in the market.
The sale had a little bit of the kind of stuff I like. I actually passed on that Santa if you can believe it!
Vintage Star Wars. I would love to have the ewoks, or Chewbacca. But they wanted 100 for the set.
I loved this embroidery! Sadly the rest of the pillow case was really stained. I tried to think of a way I could utilize just the embroidered part, but I came up blank.
I headed to two more sales after this. One was a small sale, and I was the only one there, and three people followed me around the whole time! Chatting and being nice but it made me feel really awkward. Then I went to one that had TONS of cat stuff! Every room had framed cat posters. The man who owned the house was there, and he said at the time of his wife's death they had something like 8 cats, 3 chinchillas, 8 hamsters, 20 birds, a few dogs...The house was full of animal themed stuffed. Thankfully it was mostly not my style, or I would have been in trouble!
After those sales I stopped by a "regular" grocery store for the first time in forever. I work at a big "natural grocer" and the explosion of colors and all the florescent light made me really overwhelmed! It was silly. I also made the mistake of asking someone who worked there if they had vegetarian lunch meat. He looked at me like I was insane. (And they totally had it!)
My cart. I'm trying to get Travis to back his lunch every day so he'll stop eating so much Taco Bell.
Home! Scampi gaurds the door while I bring all my bags in.
I reward myself and cool off by watching one episode of Nip/Tuck. I've been watching it on Netflix and sadly just finished it yesterday. I need a new series to watch! Though I don't know what can compare to the drama of Nip/Tuck.
Chloe loved looking out the window.
Priscilla is more into gazing at me her every waking moment. Haha.
I'm going to be sad when watermelon season is over and they aren't so cheap. I bet I've been eating a whole one every single week!
Chloe before.
Chloe after. She loves to be under blankets.
After one episode I get up and go to the kitchen. Murray has been hanging out on the cabinets the whole time Chloe has been here, even though she doesn't even look his way.
Can you guess what I was making? It was for a tropical themed wedding shower. I didn't get a finished product picture, it wasn't very photogenic.
Little buddies underfoot the whole time.
I watched some more Nip/Tuck on my phone. Obsessed.
While my cake cooks I did dishes. I love having colorful cabinets.
Travis came home, and we went on a little date.
Dinner at McCreary's, an Irish pub that we love.
Then we went to a movie. We saw Campaign. I agreed to see it mostly because of the pugs in the preview. It was pretty funny, the pugs were the best part. After the movie was over, we just came home and went to bed. What a good day off. Starting tomorrow I have three days off in a row and I just don't know what to do with myself!
