Valentines!

A very sweet blog reader sent me the BEST package in the mail last week. Nancy first emailed me with some suggestions for our fall road trip, and asked if I would like some of the cards she collected when she was a kid. Of course! I was so delighted to open up the envelope and see all these amazing Valentine's! I had a few vintage Valentine's and have been on the lookout for me. I love every single one of these! So many I would have snapped right up if I'd seen them at an antique mall.
My favorite is the deer, or maybe that little space dude.
Oh wait, no, it's the hot dogs! How cute is that hot dog couple??
She also included this little knit outfit with a note saying her husband got it on a bottle of hot sauce over 30 years ago and maybe it would fit my squirrel. Mr. Squirrel is pretty giant, but it first my little ermine PERFECTLY! I have been cracking up every time I look at it.
Haha! I love how tall the hat is. I think this weasel needs a few more outfits. Thank you again Nancy, you are so thoughtful!
I know those Valentines up there made you wonder what we got up to on that love holiday. I had to work actually, but I took some time to finally make a custom banner with the kit I got for Christmas. I think I'll leave it up for a while.
I made Travis some vegan Shirley Temple cupcakes and left him this little display to find. He bought me a GIANT gift pack from Lush that totally blew me away! I can't wait to use all 18 bath bombs! Ah!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I love any excuse to put big red hearts all around my house and bake something for the one I love. Travis and I are just missing each other because of our schedules today (He went to work at 4:30 am, I'm starting at 2:30 pm) so I left him a little display of my love on the dining room table.
I used my tiny collection of vintage Valentine's to decorate.
Here is a silly picture of us in high school, in matching/opposite outfits.
These are vegan Shirley Temple cupcakes. They are pretty great if I do say so myself!
I think the turkey valentine is my favorite.
Travis got me this pretty pink glittery vintage scale a few days ago, but it fits perfectly into my Valentine's post! I need to clean it up a bit, but it works perfectly! And I'm toying with doing a pink bathroom now that I've been hipped to Retro Renovation.
So from our house to yours!
Happy Happy Valentine's Day!

A Very Romantic Valentine's Day..

Am I too late to share what we did for Valentine's?

Well I spent the morning at the vet with Miss Priscilla. I've been really worried about her eyes lately. They did lots of tests, including putting slips of paper in her eyes, and putting drops in that made them glow in a black light to check for damage! It turns out her right eye is barely producing tears, and the dryness makes her pigmentation worse. She can't see anything but shadows out of her right eye, and she can only see about 10% with her left eye. Poor thing. Fellow pug lovers, does it seem like EVERY time you go the vet it costs hundreds of dollars? Of course it is worth it. I wouldn't trade her for the world!
Travis came home from work and brought me tulips, which I LOVE. This is my sad little Valentine's display. I need to make some decorations next year!
He also bought me this gnome pin from My Paper Crane! It is so perfect! He is so sweet and looks at my pinterest to find gift ideas! He also made me a handmade card with pictures of RuPaul on it. Haha, perfect. For Valentine's Day I made him a black forest cheesecake. Of course we try and show each other how much we love each other every day of the year, but it is fun to have a day set aside to gift each other little gifts and be extra sweet.
We had planned on going out for Indian food and seeing The Woman in Black, but i wasn't feeling great so we just got burritos from our favorite place and watched Midnight In Paris. It was pretty perfect anyway.

I'm glad we didn't give up.

scout is almost completely tamed these days. she will actually let me take her picture. which is exciting. she really wants to be friends with phyllis, but when phyllis runs towards her she gets scared.

she and scampi spend almost all day on the chairs in the dining room. sometimes she'll let me pet her. she has gotten very vocal. she also seems to never go in heat, so i haven't been motivated to get her fixed.

travis made me this cake on valentine's day. pretty cute. then he ate almost the whole thing himself. not as cute.

i have an unexpected three day weekend starting tomorrow. i don't even know what i'm going to do with myself!
