Ladies Night

Have I ever told you how much I love the phrase "ladies night"? I don't know what it is about it, well, that isn't true. It makes me think of John Lovitz singing it in the wedding singer. ANYWAY, last week Lisa from My Pretty Baby Cried She Was a Bird invited me, and two other Nashville lady bloggers to an event at the newly reopened Dress Barn at Opry Mills. I immediately accepted even though I wasn't really sure what to expect. It was awesome!
Check out how good we are at posing! (Me/ Jamie from Owl Really/ Eartha Kitsch)
After just a few minutes of awkwardly standing around because we weren't sure what to do, we had a great time shopping and trying on clothes and talking about vintage and blogs and little kid beauty pageants. If you will remember, my goal for 2012 was to follow the immoral words of Kanye West "Believe in your flyness, conquer your shyness" and I think this proves that I've made good progress on it! This time last year I would have made an excuse and not gone. It helps of course that I love all three of these ladies blogs and have talked to them online, but still! I'm pretty proud!
Back to the Dress Barn. I had never been to one, and would never really even think of stepping foot inside, but they had some cute vintage inspired stuff! The dressing rooms were so fancy, check out how they write your name on the door, and the chandelier! They had nice ivory colored benches inside, and the pink walls and lighting were actually pretty flattering. And I don't know the last time I went shopping with anyone other than Travis. It was fun to step out of the dressing room and have other ladies tell you how cute you looked. Haha, that might be the most girly thing I've said in years!
Here is what I ended up with. It isn't something I would normally get, but it made me think Tiki and I'm kind of obsessed with going to a tiki restaurant near me since Eartha posted about it recently. So we'll see if I'm brace enough to wear it! I'm going to do a cropped cardigan I have and no black tights. I need some cute shoes. I really only have converse, and those little leopard sneakers.
The next two pictures I stole from Ranch Dressing with Eartha Kitsch. I wish I had a picture of Lisa's dress! It was so cute, it had horses on it! She got some really cute sunglasses, and is having a giveaway for a Dress Barn gift card over at her blog! She has talked about having us over for a silly craft night and I really hope it happens! I'm going to go to the Nashville Roller Derby with Jamie next week, I can't wait!

Adrienne from What Lola Wants was there too! Everything she tried on looked so good on her! (does that make me sound creepy?) Here is our "Who Wore It Best" photo.
We stayed and talked and laughed until the mall closed. I'm so happy I met these ladies, I really had a great time. You meet the most awesome people through blogging. Seriously, I've never been disappointed when I've met a blog friend in real life. And I'll probably be back to the Dress Barn next time I need a dress. I was so surprised that they had multiple things that I liked!

  2. Girl, YES. Believe in your flyness. Put that gorgeous dress on, a flower in your hair and ROCK that thing. That photo of us is so funny. I have this habit of getting down really low if I'm the tallest person in a photo. I'm not sure what Tyra Banks would say about that.

    2. Thanks girls! Don't give up the fight. I fell in love with that purse after seeing someone's on Flickr, thinking I'd never seen another one. And then a year or so later, my friend, Sara found the same one for me on eBay. They're out there in multiples. Yay!

  6. Fun night!!!!! Those tiki dresses are totally cute. I tried to find the grey and yellow one I tried on online to no avail! Why, dressbarn, why? I also admit deep jealousy over Eartha's purse. Maybe there' s a wicker horse online somewhere for me, too! :)
