I refuse to wait until the last minute to get in the Christmas spirit this year! So I am giving myself a project to get me excited. I bought this vintage tree skirt kit from the Magpie Ethel shop last year, but never got motivated to start it.
Here is a close up of the photo on the front. Sadly, even thought it was still sealed it is missing the instructions! And a few of the pattern pieces have faded. But I think I'll be able to figure it out. And maybe add even MORE sequins than they suggest!
To keep myself accountable I'm going to post a progress shot of it every week! Here's hoping I can finish it in time for Christmas!
Here is the little bit I started on. I can't tell if Santa's face is supposed to be felt applique or embroidered. I might leave those little details until last to see how I feel. This is is pretty big! I can't wait to see it fill out more!
YES! I have an embroidery Santa and a macrame Christmas bell that I am psyching myself out to do. This is super motivational, what a cute tree skirt :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool project! I love it; I may need to work of the images and make something similar for myself. For the first time, we put up the aluminum tree and it is begging for a felt tree skirt! I can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteOhhh! I just love this! I can't wait to see how it comes along!
ReplyDeleteErica :)
It will be so pretty when you get it done, I'll be watching your progress!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it all finished! So exciting.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an ace project, good luck I hope you have the time to finish it :)

Love it! I'm a procrastinator at heart, but I started a Christmas sewing project three weeks ago......I'm surprisingly still going strong.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! It's going to be SO cute. As for the face, my bet is the face is embroidered. Those would be some super tiny felt pieces and would probably drive you insane!
ReplyDeleteI don't there is such a thing as too many sequins.
ReplyDeleteLove it! How fun...can't wait to see your progress!
ReplyDeleteYeah, more sparkle sparkle is pretty much ALWAYS a good thing. That's going to be really cute, can't wait to see how it turns out!
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit this, but I I found one in my grandmother's stuff before the estate sale, but stupidly let it go. Ok, so I had TONS of her craft stuff anyway....god knows I have enough mid-century ornament 'makins' to fill the White House tree with sputniks...and it WAS more of a '70s one than '50s or '60s. Still, I'm kicking myself for not keeping it as I decided this year that I just might make one myself. Love yours! I may use it's graphics as a template! Can't wait to see how you get on with it!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! Without instructions you can put things where you want them! Can't wait to see the updates ... it's going to be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is too cute! Can't wait to see the finished project, hopefully it'll inspire me to get crafting like crazy. I miss it! Need to get making.
