Kitschmas Explosion!

Well, I had some big plans for a month of Christmas posts this year. But the month got crazy and just got away from me! So I'll have to cram it all into a few days! I hope you don't mind. I actually started decorating pretty early in the season this year. I still didn't get all of my vintage holiday collection out. I think I need a bigger house! I'll start by showing you what I've got going on in my dining room!
Dream Pet and Dream Pet Like reindeer are one of my weaknesses! My collection is getting pretty big! I decided to group most of them in this room. I have four other ones that I like to put a long the top of our tv.
I store some of our serving pieces and most of our cook books on the cabinet. It usually houses my poodle collection. It is so hard to put it away to decorate for holidays!
I love that candle! It is crochet over a toilet paper roll. So creative.
My best friend brought me that little skeleton back from Maxico. He gets to stay out year round! I want to find a cool way to display my spun head collection. I have a BUNCH I didn't get out this year.
I love those two reindeer, I feel like they look gossipy. You can see some tiny flocked deer, a ornament hook box with sweet graphics, and a sweet little nativity set that my grandmother gave me. I put it under the dome because the cats seem to excel in breaking things that actually mean something to me.
Some little Santa bits. And of course the photo of me and Stephen Colbert never gets put up. He took it himself, selfie style! One of my favorite moments ever!
Our house is from 1939 and has tiny little rooms. Here is a photo of our table, taken from right in front of the hutch. The table belonged to Travis' grandparents.
This is a small tree skirt and one of my favorite vintage Christmas items. The print is so beautiful! It is a little stained by I don't mind.
I found these funny little candles this year. I can't resist any decoration that includes a tiny elf!
I've been looking for a set of glasses like this for years! My grandmother has a set just like them, but they say Merry Christmas instead of Seasons Greetings. As long as I can remember they have used them on Christmas morning to make mimosas. We don't go to my grandparents for Christmas anymore, and I love having a set of these glasses now to remind of when we did. I've already used them for one party this year.
I hope you are read for Christmas! One more day! We've got everything wrapped, cookies baked, our Christmas dinner ordered, and the pugs stockings stuffed!

Those deer totally look gossipy, those eyes oh my gosh. I never, ever find those velvet deer anywhere but those glasses I see ALL the time at Goodwill's. Did not know you were lookin, I could have remedied that a long time ago ;)
Your home is so beautiful, it really is.
And maybe I should put everything under a cake dome around here on account of my son! Great idea ;) Merry, Merry Christmas Rae, Travis and "kids"!

  6. I love your Dream Pet army!! I think those glasses were a premium from Arby's sometime in the seventies' or eighties'; I cannot tell you the number of roast beef sandwiches members of my family must have eaten in those years to collect as many nice pieces of holiday glassware as possible, we have so many. It's so cool you can have that memory of your family through your own glass set! :) Merry Christmas to you and Travis and the little pupsters!
