Like I mentioned yesterday, I'm in the midst of planning our fall road trip. We're leaving in just a few weeks! This time Travis and I are taking on part of the country we've never been to! We're going to New England! I posted about it on instagram yesterday and got so many good suggestions! Here is our tentative route. (Except I'm going to find the best way to avoid New York city)
So I think we're going to hit Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Providence, Salem, Ithaca, Niagara Falls, and Cleveland. It's pretty ambitious, and I'm SO EXCITED about it! Do you have any suggestions for places we HAVE to go? Food we have to eat? Things we need to see?
We are going a very similar trip next year! Very excited about the Salem wax museums.
ReplyDeletePhiladelphia is very cool they have a great zoo and the ice cream shop Franklin Fountain is amazing

I'm not sure when exactly you're going, but if you're in Philly by November 2, you should go here:

It is so scary but so good. I've made the trip home just for that at least three times haha. And even if you don't make it in time or you don't want to do the haunted house thing, you can tour the prison during the day. It's pretty interesting.
The Philadelphia Zoo is also awesome; I know how much you like zoos.
I'm super jealous that you're going to New England. I've been wanting to go to New England in the fall foreverrr.
Yay for your upcoming trip! I'm from New England and love when people get to see how beautiful it is up there. You should definitely spend a good amount of time in Philadelphia. It's a really cool city, with lots of historic sites and plenty of walking tours/sights to see. If you have the luxury of time, you should check out the Ringing Rocks park in Bucks County, PA. It's really neat and not too far from Philadelphia. If you can get on the Tappan Zee Bridge and drive through White Plains, NY, that should ease the congestion of NYC traffic. If you want more info on places to go in the Massachusetts/New Hampshire area, shoot me an email. tillytriest at gmail.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to Cleveland, you have to go to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame! It's the greatest!
ReplyDeleteJealous :D I want to go on a similar trip one day soon. Gotta save up some money first. And buy a retro RV for it, naturally...
ReplyDeleteTo avoid NYC and the Jersey turnpike get on 476 outside of Philly(the PA turnpike extension)go north to I-81 for a short piece then onto I-84 through eastern PA and across NY state above the metro area. I-84 goes across CT and hooks into the Mass Turnpike(also called I-90)just above Sturbrigdge.MA. This route is a bit more driving but you'll be rewarded with stunning fall foliage from eastern PA, thru NY into CT.
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
