Holga Class!

Did I tell you that I am taking a class? It called Holga Camera and Alternate Photo Techniques.  I was crying a river about how I needed something creative to do when a friend from high school posted on Facebook that she had some spots left in her Holga class. I kinda felt like it was sign, since I had won that gold Holga from I Just Might Explode. So I signed up and I'm so happy I did!
Here are my two cameras. It is really been challenging for me already. With a Holga you can't be a perfectionist. The charm is the imperfection. I also can't take 350 pictures a day with it, I've got either 12 or 16 chances. I'm trying not to freak out about it! The class is 10 weeks, and we are developing our own film. AND after the class I can rent the dark room and continue to develop my own film. I'm really looking forward to that.
I took both cameras on my trip this past week (oh man I can't wait to start posting my pictures!!), with different speeds of film. I took notes on most of the photos I took so hopefully a few will turn out, and i will be able to figure out why some didn't. I tried not to put too much pressure on myself. We'll see how I do once the film is developed.
I'll try to post my results once a week!
I really can't wait to see what I get!

  1. I love Holga's and was very excited when I found out that my college has photography classes that used Holgas. The only down side was how expensive the film was and then how expensive it is to develop. We did not develop them ourselves for this particular class, but had them cross processed. Definitely a plus is having medium format and the ability to have multiple exposures and the surprise when they come out looking different then you imagined.

Oh by the way I am x_beneviolence from over at Livejournal, though I never used that anymore for anything other that documentaday.
