Booth Update!

It hasn't been a full month yet since I started reselling at the Tennessee Antique Mall, but we went by today so I could add a few more items so I thought I would update you.

So far I have sold 5 things. A vintage brooch, an 8mm reel, some crewel work, a vintage book called "This Is Our Parish", and something else that I can't remember now, haha! I'm pretty happy with that, especially since the summer is supposed to be slow. There is about a week until the end of the month and I'm not that far from making my rent at least, so we'll see how it goes.
I'm wondering if the fact they my case is locked will affect sales. i went with a case because the smaller space seemed easier to start out with, but I know when I'm antiquing i will rarely ask for a case to be opened. It just seems like too much trouble. We'll see I guess.

  2. That's awesome! I can't wait to hear how its going. I live vicariously through your reselling because I would quit my job tomorrow and do that if I wasn't such a puss. BTW- finally went to Goodwill outlet this weekend for the first time. It was crowded and overwhelming and if I had been in the market for golf clubs...i would have been in heaven.

  3. Congratulations on your sales! You know...hmm, the cases. I always really, really, REALLY want to spend time looking at them but with the Mister with me, I usually just take quick peeks. Especially if they have a lot of really small stuff in them. The fact that yours has larger things in it would make me look at it just like i would a booth though. I wouldn't hesitate with your great stuff and since there aren't that many cases there, I don't think that buyers get overwhelmed like they would in some other stores.

    1. I'm the same way with cases. the ones that are PACKED full of tiny stuff i usually don't bother with, or the ones with obviously super fancy stuff. but there are a few great cases in that mall with reasonably priced cute vintage that i always look in, so i'm hoping other people will too!

  4. Congrats on the sales! I've heard that Summer is a slow time as well, but I'm sure things will pick up. I live in Nashville as well and am about to take the plunge and get a space. I decided to go with a mall in Madison though, which is closer to where I live. Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing more about your experience.

    2. Thanks! I definitely will be blogging about it @nashpop. Yup, the Madison Flea, although it is under new ownership and is now called the Robinson Flea Market.

  5. The only thing that bugs me about cases is that I rarely can see the prices...so I think if you can see the prices up front people would be more apt to get that case opened to buy your very cool stuff!

    1. that is my pet peeve for sure! i set my stuff up so you can see the prices easily because i HATE getting them to open a case, just to see that the thing i am interested in is 300 bucks. haha.

  7. Me and my niece bought the flower pin. Ijust knew it was your case and the old lady that owns the place confirmed it. I'm making one of those brooch bouquets for my niece for her wedding.

    1. that is so awesome! i'm glad to know that! i LOVE those brooch bouquets and I REALLY wish I had thought of that when i was getting married! They are so cool, and a beautiful keepsake! my poor bouquet succumbed to a really humid old house we used to live in.
