Chattanooga Finds

Here is what I came home with from that shop in Chattanooga. Not a whole lot. The mandrake bottle is for Travis' first aid collection. I kind of MADE him get it, because of the Harry Potter connotation. I haven't bought many salt and pepper shakers this year (I need another shelf for my display) but I couldn't resist these little cows! They are tiny, about an inch tall. And I love old figurines with the little pink flowers on their chests. I have a few dogs like that. I tried to research them before but came up empty handed. I think they are so sweet.
Here are the gnomes I come home with. I can't wait to see how many I actually have when I pull out all my decorations. It is really fun to go through all the Christmas stuff I've been tucking away throughout the year. I think the guy with the stand up base is extra sweet.
I was stoked to find a few vintage Rock City postcards! They are so much cuter than the stuff they sell their now! I can't wait to frame these guys!
And of course some photos for my collection. Someone asked me how I displayed this collection a little while ago, and I have a post in the works! Collecting vintage photos is so fun to me! And really inexpensive compared to lots of other collections!
I absolutely love photos like this! So many vintage photos show people looking super serious. the back of this one says "Elizabeth Laycock and my Sammie at a Xmas Party". Look at what a great time they are having!
You know I love a poodle!
And this is one of my favorite finds ever! I should have scanned it so you could see it better. Do you see the little monkey? Here is what the back says: "Out US No. 1 south of Daytona at Ella's bar. The monkey stole the show by the way I look. He was untying a ribbon I had my hair tied with and he has just swiped his tail in my wide open mouth"

  1. As always, what pictures, what pictures. I love the mental picture I have of that poor woman being disrespected by a grinder monkey in a bar south of Daytona... the story on the back coupled with the picture itself is just priceless! And the poodle on the Atlantic beach. Also, I love the grouping of an ominous "Mandrake" bottle behind the elf band in the first picture. Watch out, elf men!

  3. THose gnomes are very cute. Very feminine looking faces. Looking forward to seeing the whole crew together!
Yes postcards very cool. A cheap collection, plus doesn't take as much room to store as other collections (ahem) ! I don't think I've ever come across an old album with photos in it here. Or even boxes of old photos. Dunno why. I would have noticed over my 25 years of thrifting/garage saleing!

  7. I love it so much when people write names and dates on pictures but I love it even more that the poor lady who was disrespected by a monkey saw fit to share the tale. That is such a fab find.
