Estate sale in Inglewood

Here are some pictures from an estate sale that I went to in Inglewood last week! The house was really full, and most of the pricing was really low and good, except for a few things like these cookie jars that were over 100 bucks each! What? The humpty dumpty is pretty cute though.
Check out this sweet plant wallpaper in the kitchen!
These two women were having a VERY LOUD conversation about a mutual acquaintance who they thought had commited INSURANCE FRAUD. They said that word about 100 times! It was kind of fun listening to them once they moved out of the kitchen so I could snoop around. See that spoon set on the side of the stove? I'm pretty sure Eartha Kitsch snapped that up later in the day!
You walked into the house at this room. It was all dark paneling and things hanging from the rafters. You can kind of see one of my purchases hanging in the right corner, can you see what it is?
Bamboo wall paper.
The bathroom was all grey and pink, even though it looks green in the photos. I really want pink or blue tile in my bathroom. Maybe next year we'll do a renovation.
Here is what I brought home! When I asked for the price on the yarn cat she said "Oh I almost threw that away." I wonder how much stuff I would love gets thrown away before sales because the sellers think no one wants it. I'm glad that piece of wood with real mushrooms and squirrels was kind of hidden under a counter! Haha!
How cute is this cheese plate?
Here are the animal rummy cards. Could they be any cuter?
And the snap game. I love it!
Some dishes! I got the jar to put my rolled oats in, and I love bowls with handles like that because I eat a LOT of soup in the winter and it is nice to have a handle so you don't burn your hand! The striped glass is already in my booth, and even though I said I wouldn't buy any more vintage glasses for myself, that circle glass is so perfect!
And lastly, my kitchen witch! I have been wanting one of these for a while. When I pulled it out of my pile to ask for a price the woman running the sale said "Ew!" So rude! I paid her a quarter anyway, and now I've got to decide where to hang here. I'll probably put her in the pantry.
I love that she still has her tag.
And unrelated, here are Chloe and Phyllis being cute best friends while I took pictures.

  3. Doggy BFFs! Awww! You got some GREAT stuff! I completely forgot to take my photos off of the camera. I tried to get some photos of the wallpaper throughout but don't think they came out so great. Glad that you did! That yarn cat is AWESOME. And yep, those were the spoons I got. Finally got all of the cooking grease off and am good to go once I get a kitchen wall back!

  5. We just had an estate sale on our radar at a house built in 1904 where the woman had lived for nearly 70 years. A friend got there early to stake it out and, after her shock at the meager offerings, learned that EVERYTHING had been thrown out by the children!!! They had a few pieces of furniture and some bric-a-brac but everything else was gone!!! Disappointing to say the least. I like your witch!

  6. Dude, somebody BOUGHT that Humpty Dumpty guy for $150, is the more shocking thing-- it wasn't there when I went on Friday afternoon! Nor was the horse cookie jar. Friar Tuck was still hanging around, looking lonely. I always see things I didn't see in person when I catch them on your estate sale photo roundup! :) ((PS: WE LOVE THE WITCH! And the kitchen kitty. People are dumb!))

  8. I remember there being a kitchen witch above our sink when i was little, but i don't remember when it disappeared. Maybe it was gone after the 94 Northridge Quake when our place was trashed. I always wondered why my mom who was SUPER anal about everything being put away left this one random halloween decoration up all year, ha ha.
