Good news!

Phyllis is home! She had her dental this morning and ended up having to have four teeth removed because of abscesses! Poor thing. The vet said they were really rotten and probably painful. I'm trying not to feel horrible about it. She just had her yearly check up a few weeks ago and they had no idea her teeth were so bad. She is already missing most of her front teeth. Pugs are not know for their stunning dental records.
We won't talk about the price. Full disclosure pugs can be EXPENSIVE. Especially older disabled ones. But they are completely worth it. I feel like I should have gotten a copy of her x-rays though! Well, I don't know how cool a dental one would be, but pug skulls are cute!
Look at that little bandage! She has been sitting on her little pillow since she got home. She has two kinds of pills to take, and she has to have wet food for two weeks. We had a little altercation between her and Priscilla earlier, but other than that everything has been good. She gets to sleep with us tonight too. We have to watch her to see if she is in pain to see if we need to put her on stronger pain meds. Poor thing, they had to drill her teeth out! I'm so glad it is over. I know a lot of people probably thought I was being silly but this little dog means the world to me and I don't want anything to happen to her.
One more! Here she is riding home in the car. Don't worry, we were waiting in a LONG line of traffic when I took this. Look at that leg!

  1. Yay so glad everything went well!! I would be so freaked out if Lucky had to be put under!!
I try to brush Lucky's teeth here and there so they don't get bad which usually ends up being like once a month. Last time he went for his 6 month check up the vet said we should be brushing them every other day!! I was thinking "seriously!!!" Even thought I know that's good for him I doubt that will ever happen!!

  2. I'm so glad she's okay! She'll probably be a little weird-ish for several days with the medicines. And yeah, I can tell by the number of lines on that bill that it wasn't a cheap one. Oh gosh... Her sweet little foot on that door handle makes me all weepy.

  3. Aww poor Phyllis. God knows we spent a lot on Penny when she was with us. And Pugsley, our older pug, has the same issue with the need for dental work. The only problem is, the vet is concerned of the anesthesia due to his age and weakened heart. So we just have antibiotics for him. Thankfully, he has no problem eating anything...and absolutely no problem licking all of the pillows in the house. Ahhh pugs, gotta love them!

  6. awww so sweet, poor thing--tooth problems are the worst for people because it doesn't seem like it'd hurt that much, but it must be worse for pups who can't tell anyone about it! xx

  7. You're not being silly. Shes your baby, I've freaked out every time anything happens to Cap. I'm glad shes doing good though. If we ever get x-rays done of Cap, I'm totally gonna ask for them.
p.s. love that first picture, the face!

  8. Won't lie it is hard to look at Phyllis...she just reminds me of Tuni.

But what a cutie looking out the car with her red bandage. Tuni only had 5 teeth and she still loved to chew on nylabones so go for it Phyllis...once you heal! Hope you get lots of extra snuggles too.

  13. Poor little baby, she looks sorry for herself. It's horrid when they get old and start needing so much done isn't it? I had a whole 10 years of my old lady husky x being healthy but the last 4 years seem to have been hard on her :( with lots of operations.
Don't feel guilty! I can tell you're a great mom, it seems like you'd do anything for your puglets.
