Halloween movie favorites

I haven't even decorated for Halloween yet, but we've been watching Halloween movies to get in the mood. One of my favorites since I was little has been Ernest Scared Stupid. I actually LOVED all the Ernest movies (well, maybe not Slam Dunk Ernest.) I had a little cardboard cut out of Ernest in my room. Jim Varney actually lived in the town where I grew up. Anyone else my age see the Ernest movies? Were they popular everywhere? The Halloween is my favorite, with Ernest Saves Christmas as a close second.
ANYWAY, last weekend Travis went to the Nashville Comic and Horror Festival to see our friend's booth. I was a work. When he got there it turned out Billy Byrge, who played Bobby in a lot of the movies, was there signing autographs! Travis was really sweet and got one for me, and got his picture take. Look at how freaking happy he looks? I can't stop cracking up at this picture!
He also got to meet the girl from Night of Living Dead, which is his favorite scary movie. He LOVES that picture too. He made a stencil of it and he used to put it in parking lots all the time. What a weirdo.
What are your favorite Halloween movies? I also love Hocus Pocus and The Worst Witch. I'm kind of a baby when it comes to scary movies though! We tried to watch The Woman in Black recently and I made Travis turn it off because I was freaking out! I think I'm a little too good at using my suspension of disbelief.

  1. Hocus Pocus is so good! I loved that Mary Kate/Ashley Olsen Halloween movie... Double Double Toil and Trouble, too! And of course, I'm a huge horror fan. I'm super jealous that Travis met Kyra Schon!

  2. "Miak!!" I loved Earnest Scared Stupid. I'd still watch it now for kicks. But Night and Dawn of The Living Dead are my two favorite scary classics.

I cannot believe, with me being such a horror fanatic that I have yet to be to a festival. Next year, I'm going. That's it!!

  3. I'm too big a scaredy cat for scary movies. I like Ichabod Crane (the Disney/Bing Crosby cartoon) and "The Others."

I've never heard of Ernest Scared Stupid, but I think I'll look into it this year.

  5. I'm a big fan of horror movies that involve cheesy gore, Dead Alive being my favorite ... but for not scary try Mad Monster Party, it's fantastic kooky fun! I have The Munsters & Addams Family playing all day long while I work lately ... & while carving pumpkins we always watch Nightmare Before Christmas because awesome.

  7. Ernest Scared Stupid scared me so much when I was younger! I recall a few nights of begging my mom to sleep in her bed. It's cute when you are 5, not so much at 13 I guess... I'm a wuss about scarey movies too! Thats cool of him to get that autograph for you and he looks so tickeled about it. What nice guy!

  8. I came across your blog while I was looking for Halloween movies appropriate for kids, and you have some good ideas in here. I’ve never seen Ernest Scared Stupid, but it looks like a really cute movie. It’s available from Blockbuster @Home, which ships fast enough that I should have it way before Halloween. It sounds like the perfect movie to watch with my friend I work with at DISH and her kids (after they go trick or treating, of course). Thanks for the idea!

  9. Hi Rae! It's Amy (nystateofmind on Livejournal ; I don't know if you remember me, we used to be LJ friends). I totally forgot that you had a blog and find it hidden in one of my blogs to read/follow folders recently.

My favorite Halloween themed or scary movies are: Hocus Pocus, Scream 1-4, Prom Night (the remake), and Practical Magic. I'm not too big of a horror movie fan because I get freaked out and creeped out way too easily. I literally did not sleep for days after my cousin made me watch The Blair Witch Project at her house one night. Of course, she had to make me watch it when there was a thunderstorm and huge gusts of wind making the window rattle. I also got extremely scared when my friend talked me into seeing The Grudge in the movie theaters. I jumped out of my seat and lost almost my entire bag of popcorn. Another movie that scared me to death was Jeepers Creepers 2.

Growing up, I always had to watch the Olsen's twins Halloween movie: Double, Double, Toil & Trouble!

Whoops, sorry for my long comment. =X

PS: You're not on Livejournal anymore, right?
