The Salvage Yard!

It's finally snowing here! And of course I'm at work for it. I'm hoping we'll get one more snow day this winter, and it will be my day off. For now I'll content myself sending Travis text messages reminding him to put the pugs coats on when they go out so they don't get soaking wet and cold. I bet he is rolling his eyes at me as we speak.
Here are some pictures from when Travis took me to the salvage yard over the weekend to look for stuff for our bathroom remodel. I was looking forward to seeing the rows of colored toilets all lined up but they had them covered with trash bags because of all the rain we've been having. Bummer! But it was still fun to look at all the colored porcelain. Is that too lame? I feel like you guys will understand.

So many pretty pinks and blues and yellows and greens!

I wanted to find a bathroom cabinet and too bad this one was so rusty. I like the awnings too! We have metal awnings on our windows and I have talked about painting them. Maybe we'll do it this year.

Pink and yellow tubs.

I liked looking at all the beautiful mantles too! If I had space, I would love one in my kitchen/dining room. I have seen cutes ones where they put cookbooks in the whole where the fire would go and just use it like a shelf.

So gorgeous.

There was a cool organ too!

We dug through a lot of buildings. I was looking for a tile toothbrush holder, but didn't find one. We'll see what we can find closer to the actual remodel. We're getting the funds together now so hopefully it won't be too long until we are able to get started!

  1. My dad's house has the exact same awnings as that white one with the red/brown trim. His had brown trim, but have been painted all white now.

  2. Hey Rae, is that Hailey salvage? Funnily enough, I was just googling Nashville salvage places...we got the Tudor house and I need a sink! Great pictures...salvage is totally the way to go. I salvaged a farmhouse sink and clawfoot tub when I built a home before I moved to Nashville and I got so many compliments on them. I brought the sink home in a Toyota Echo, and it weighed so much it dropped that little bitty car a couple of inches...geekiest low rider ever!

    1. yes that's it! I'm so happy you got the house!
i know that travis asked about a price on a sink there once (it was a double, porcelain covered cast iron one) and they said 75 bucks. we ended up finding one at the habitat restore for 25 dollars though! amazing!
I'm happy our tub (that i LOVE ) is a cast iron one so my contractor was like "no PLEASE keep that one, it will be a pain to take out!"

  3. If that's the same place I'm thinking of in north Nash, we have been there too. It's fun digging through all of their junk! We found a few items when we went, but the lady priced them too high and we didn't end up buying anything. But I'm sure there are deals to be had. :)

  8. Leave it to you to post pictures of pastel bathroom fixtures & make me swoon. What a heavenly place, I've seen nothing like it here in California. & the red trim on that aluminum awning is to die for!

  9. Which salvage yard did you go to? It looks magical! I now want a yellow tub! You'd never know when it was dirty though . Can't decide if that's a pro or con

    1. haha, does your tub turn YELLOW when it's dirty? it was hailey's salvage, it is off dickerson, near charlie bobs. if you haven't been to charlie bobs before, you REALLY need to go!

  10. You could always just have plain porcelain refinished in a color you liked if you don't fine anything? That's what I was told when I got my tub refinished anyway.
