It got better...

My day started off kind of terrible. I jolted awake at 4:30 this morning and freaked out thinking I was late for work. I rushed to get dressed and out the door in less than 10 minutes and as I was clocking in at 5AM...I realized I wasn't supposed to be there until 6. I'm really not sure what happened. But it just started my day off on the wrong foot. Later when I sitting in the breakroom, a friend read my horoscope to me out of the newspaper, and it said something about a mistake leading to something magical happening. We laughed and I said me being early would lead to something magical that afternoon. It kind of came true (as they always do, since they are so vague. haha.)

Travis had been home most of the day, and had mowed the backyard with his new mower. I asked him to set up his camping hammock for me, and I went outside to enjoy the perfect weather.
I brought a little friend of course. I was mean and made Priscilla stay inside. She is just too busy for relaxing in the hammock.
My view. I don't want to front and pretend I live in a quiet forest wonderland. We live right on a 4 lane road, so I could hear the traffic going by, and someone mowing, and dogs barking. But it was still really nice. I finished a book that I have been reading for what seems like forever.
I ate some of these little caramel flavored gingerbread cookies that Travis got me from a Russian and Eastern European grocery store he just found. Phyllis wanted a bite as you can see. He also brought me some strawberry syrup and sprite so I could make too sweet drinks.
I think Phyllis liked it.  She never really relaxed, there were too many sounds to hear and smells to sniff.  They don't ever really get to hang out outside. I'm too paranoid about something happening.
I love this hammock. It is so cozy! It folds up really tiny so you can take it on a hike.I don't really want to hike though. I'll just stick to the back yard.
I got this great package on my doorstep today too! Tiffy's mom sent me a message asking if I would like this beautiful fabric that belonged to her mother. Of course I was interested, but I couldn't believe how amazing it was when I opened the package! I LOVE it all! Look at all these gorgeous patterns!
That turquoise and red is so perfect for me of course, and those roses!
This day of the week fabric is so fantastic. I need to find the perfect project to use it on!
I love these circles. The color combo is really great.
This floral is my favorite! I wish there was enough for a dress! Or curtains! But I actually already have a plan for it, and hopefully I'll do it tomorrow! It is really just perfect!

She sent me these bowling patches too! I think I'm going to sew the space themed one on my bowling bag! I finally thrifted a ball last week too! Looks like I need to hit the lanes! This was such a thoughtful gift. Bloggers really are some of the nicest people in the world. I am constantly blown away by the kindness of some of the people I have met through blogging. (And now that I say that, I'm sure someone will send me a mean message or something, hah!)
When I came back inside Travis had gone and got me some cadbury mini eggs, and picked up a pizza. Now we're hanging out on the couch with the pugs watching tv. So the day turned out pretty great after all!

What I Brought Home

So I posted about this estate sale earlier this week, now I'll show you what I got! I really wish I had gone on the first day. Because if this stuff was left, I wonder what there was to start! Most of what I got was kids stuff. There was a room (it must have been a play room) full of kids stuff!

I got two actual dream pets for 50 cents each! I'm really loving the rabbit! I thought about doing a rabbit post for Easter today, because I have really been enjoying Eartha Kitsch's "Wabbit Wednesdays", but I only have a few rabbits. But there are quite a few in this post! That monkey was just too cute to leave behind. I don't love the red dog, but it was a dream pet, and I couldn't leave him behind! The brown dog is a fuzzy bank.
I just thought this match book was cute. When I asked the lady running the sale how much she looked annoyed that I asked, and said "You can HAVE that." haha. That happens to me a lot.
This puzzle! I now have a little collection of US map puzzles. I can't resist them!
I couldn't get a good picture of this Pyrex pitcher! I really love it! I can't believe it was left behind, and only 2 dollars! I'm going to use it all summer for my Arnold Palmer's, my favorite drink.
Cute Illinois cup. I keep saying I won't buy anymore cups, but I can never stick to it.
Some games! And a puzzle! I'm bummed because the Scribbage game is missing one of the letter dice. I thought I counted them all before I bought it. Daaannnng. The puzzle reminds me of the ones that were in the church nursery when I was little. I wonder if they are still there.
I haven't read the rules for Skunk yet, it is so cute!

Vintage stuffed dog. I love her eye lashes. Definitely didn't need it. Haha.
Of course I came home with three sets of vintage sheets. Two sets like the top one. Another thing I can never resist if they are cheap. 1 dollar a set!
These will probably only be exciting to me, but I have been looking for these editions of Marguerite Henry books. These are the ones they had in my elementary school library and I checked them out all the time! King of the Wind is about the size of a 5 x 7 paperback, the others are bigger. I was SO excited to find these on the bookshelf in the kids room! I wonder if there were more of them the first day.
More kids books! I have SO MANY of these. I better have a kid I guess. Or a nephew or niece that can visit. I can't turn down a vintage children's book.
I love the front pages of this Little Golden Book version of Heidi. So beautiful.
I love this book from the 70's with the illustrations combined with photos.
And two bunny books! The Golden Egg Book is so familiar to me, I must have read it as a kid.
I absolutely love the illustrations! The story is about a bunny who finds a big egg, and a duckling hatches out of it. It really couldn't get cuter. Look at him kicking the egg!
So that is my sweet little haul from that great sale. The estate sale season sure is off to a good start! Maybe I'll finally start an etsy store so I have a reason to go to them. I really don't have much room in my house.

Update!

Thank you for all your sweet comments about Miss Phyllis and her bum leg! She is doing much better now. She is still holding that leg up a little bit, but she can walk again and I don't have to hold her up so she can go to the bathroom (she really hated that!). I'm so glad, not only because I hate it when she isn't feeling well, but their 1000 pugs photo shoot is next week! And she will need all her strength. Oh man I really can't wait!
Also, I am obsessed with those rainbow sheets. They are from a recent estate sale. I think they are the most perfect sheets EVER.

Holga Class: Travel Edition

The first two rolls I shot for my Holga class were from our Florida vacation in February. Out of the 24 exposures, I got 11 that I like, which I think is pretty good! I'm really excited to keep shooting this summer now that I have kind of an idea of what I can get with my cameras.
Accidental double exposure of Hogsmeade. I really love it!

Pier at Daytona Beach Shores.
The Varsity in Atlanta. My first holga shot ever! I'm really proud that it is in focus!
Savannah Georgia
Back in the Day Bakery, with a light leak
Creepy pier in Lake Monroe.
The Varsity again
Middle of nowhere, Georgia
I love how dreamy this spanish moss looks. I can't remember where I took this. I love the soft blur on the right side.  I've got some color film now that I can't wait to shot! Sadly, I have to send that off to get developed since I don't have access to a color darkroom.

Snapshots.

I almost always have my dslr with me, and sometimes I'll end up with random little shots of a few days that I don't know how to share. So I'm just going to post them all together!
A few days ago we were back at Lone Wolf for Travis' last session on his horror half sleeve! It has been three years in the making!
I walked over to the darkroom while they were getting started. I stopped at JJ's of course to get some over priced snacks. I always regret it later. But their sign is cute.
Chemicals.
I was working on my final project. Rubber cement and toners.
Sadly it didn't work out like I planned.
But it was fun to play with the toners.
On my way back I walked to Ben and Jerry's. It was free cone day! I got mint chocolate chunk.
I really love this building every time I see it. I hope something awesome goes in there, and it doesn't just get torn down. If you are in Nashville, this is right were great Escape used to be.
And here he is! Cute bandages and all, haha. I told him to look triumphant.
We also went to a going away party for my friend Ashley. She is moving to New York. Across the street from the party was this cute horse. Lauren (whose house it was) pets this dude all the time. He was so cute.

I love the hand sneaking in from the side, haha!
The only other pictures I took were of this impressive grill. It belongs to Josh, in the blue. All the guys were around it cooking meat, it was very manly. On the bottom left you can see Travis and my Smart Dogs. Not as manly.

Smart dogs are pretty awesome if you cook them on the grill. We watched the muppets on a screen outside, then the party turned into "have you seen this funny youtube video?" which I love. I got to see lots of people that I really like, but don't see much. It was really fun!
And that's it! Travis and I are off to some estate sales this morning. I'm hoping to get a color wheel for my aluminum Christmas trees. I'm not very hopeful, because they took the picture off the listing, but the sale looks good so we're going to go anyway. I love it when I work late on Thursdays!
