I keep having to work on the weekends so I haven't been able to do much estate sale shopping. Terrible! But we have been thrifting a little bit. We've been bringing home lots of books lately. I'm excited to read One Woman's Arctic. It is by the author of The Incredible Journey, which I love.
My favorite that I have found recently is The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes. The images are so beautiful, and are familiar to me, so I must have seen it when I was a kid. I love the image of her hoping up the mountain.
I found a cool box of game sheets from the 1960's. Too bad the box was too messed up to bring home. I love the games though! They are double sided and really cute.
All that was left of this game was the top of the box, but I had to bring it home because I am crazy. It was too cute to leave behind! Plus, it was from the Goodwill outlet, so it was only 10 cents.
This guy is a Billy Bob toy from the now defunct Showbiz Pizza. We had just watched a great documentary about Showbiz so I couldn't resist him! I loved that place when I was a kid.
And I know I kind of showed it before, but here is a better shot of my sweet Lisa Frank binder. I can't help but love it! It now holds all my negatives and prints from my Holga!
What a bunch of wonderful finds! That little squirrel sketch is so sweet & I would've brought that Peter Pan game lid home as well. It would look great on a wall.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I hope you frame the game board...love the colors!!
ReplyDeleteI had those games when I was little! I had no idea they were so old. I kept them even after the box was long gone and plan on putting them in a frame some day. So cool!
ReplyDeletethe country bunny looks so cute... those little baby bunny pictures are making me squee!!
ReplyDeleteseriously might be the cutest picture i've ever seen! i'm obsessed with it!
DeleteUm, that Billy Bob Bear is AMAZING. Color me super jealous!
ReplyDeleteI love those doublesided games, how cool are the graphic on them? You should copy and frame the bunny babies picture, it really did crack me up when I saw the sheer NUMBER of bunnies. Hope your trade show activites go well and you get to sneak in some Hotlanta thrift shopping in there (is it wrong that I daydream about vacations where I could just find the worst parts of town to look for thrift stores? I don't think so)!
ReplyDeletei might copy the games so i can show the other side too if i frame them. they are all cute!
Deletesadly i didn't get to do anything thrifting. i had to ride down with six people in a van and didn't have a car. total bummer. i'm planning a Louisville thrift trip soon though!
That lisa frank folder is soo awesome.
ReplyDeleteA Showbiz documentary?!? Tell me more. I miss the Billy Bob days. The giant mouse freaks me out. I'm so glad my kids are past the Chuck E Cheese stage! I love the squirrel picture and the hot plate thing7? Whoa! I saw one recently but it looked like poo. Yours is so nice. :)
ReplyDeleteit is called The Rock-afire explosion! It is on Netflix instant if you have that! It is mostly about the anamatronic band and the crazy fans who are still obsessed with it.
Deleteomigod! that witch!
ReplyDeleteLisa Frank - so nice!
ReplyDeleteMy faves - the Peter Pan game box and the warming tray,I've seen those numerous times but always priced too high.
ReplyDeleteMy kids had Puppies are Like That, I still have it packed away. There is also Kittens are Like That.
I had that bear from Showbiz when I was a kid! He's missing his clothes and hat :( You buying it( how could one not?) is more than enough reason for me to follow your blog..... excuse me while I go and read more about you through old posts ;)
