Bloody movies in the park

Another movies in the park week! Just one more left, such a bummer. This time just Crystal was able to go with me. Everyone had to work, or just didn't want to see the movie, since it was Breaking Dawn. But I love how rediculous the Twilight movies are, so I couldn't wait to see it in the park! Here we are, after tearing ourselves away from those puppies I mentioned in the last post. Crystal is my best friend in the whole wide world.
I didn't want to wait in line at the Grilled Cheeserie (probably the best food truck I've ever eaten from!) so I just got a slice from Pizza Perfect and a cupcake from the Cupcake Collective.
It was strawberry lemonade. It was GOOD. There was a real strawberry in the cake. Mmm.
Crit and I had fun talking about the fashions we saw, and commenting on all the cute dogs that walked by. I wish I could have brought one of the pugs. But it was really hot until the sun went down.
My kettle corn from the week before still tasted good! I almost couldn't believe it. I guess the candy shell keeps the staleness away. Or makes it taste so good you don't care.
We got really good seats and enjoyed the movie. I am surprised they picked it for the park. It isn't really a family movie at all! There is the long awkward honeymoon with the long awkward sexy scenes. Then there is Bella wasting away as the monster baby starves her from inside, and then the birth scene! We kept screaming and covering our eyes. Pretty fun. Here is Bella in her bloody wedding dress.
I'll be back tomorrow to show you the sights from the flea market this weekend! I didn't end up bringing much home, but I got a few real gems!

Movies in the Park!

One my favorite things to do in Nashville in the summer is the movies in the park series that the Nashville Scene does! They moved the location this year, it is no longer near the Parthenon. Which I like because you no longer have to worry about gun shots going off during the movie (happened two years ago! Ah!) The movie list isn't great this year, but I still love sitting outside to watch movies. My favorite they ever did was Dirty Dancing! It was perfect!
We got some freshly made kettle corn and settled in on this awesome blanket that I got at a craft swap. I can't believe someone was getting rid of it!
My friend Ryan always likes to bring an appropriate pez dispenser. Obviously, this week the movie was Shrek. Ryan has a pretty impressive pez collection, check it out here!
This picture makes it look like there weren't a lot of people. but it was PACKED! We didn't get there until almost 8, and we still got a good spot though. This week the movie is Breaking Dawn! haha, I can't wait!

Movies in the Park!

it's that time of year again! movies in the park! i missed the first week (out of town) but you can bet i was there for week two. i will give you some clues as to what the movie was...remember these?

my famous homemade crackers. brittany made the themed cheese ball this time. oh man it was so good.

there there is a new food truck town that i am in LOVE with called Happy Eating. it's from the people who run Happy Japan. The cute shop that does bento lessons!

even the menu is cute.

i had onigiri and edamame. the edemame was a bad choice for the 96 degree afternoon. it was hot and took forever to eat! but it tasted really good.

brittany had a crepe and bethany had some tiny tacos. they were the only ones who braved the heat with me. even the pugs had to stay home.

the park was still packed.

we had great seats, as usual. that guy is a local dj on the top 40 station and he has the WORST dj name! LUNCHBOX. haha.

why do people freak out about free t shirts being thrown at them?

here is another clue, a BUTTER BEER POPSICLE!! you read that right. it was AMAZING. that probably gave it away. the grilled cheese truck has a weasley special but the line was super long so i never found out what it was.

brittany was smart and brought a pillow. look at that cute embroidery!

the movie started and it was awesome. harry potter and the deathly hallows part one. the only thing that sucked was the temperatures stayed high after the sun went down. but it was still wonderful to watch harry potter out under the stars. this week the movie is sherlock homes. we're going to go if it isn't sooooo hot. and i will not bring so much food next.

I love free summer movies

Little blackie is gone and adopted. i got travis to take him before i woke up so i wouldn't cry. we're taking a break from fostering. i don't know if i can handle it. i'm too much of a baby who gets too attached.

i bought the new weezer album (after i said i wouldn't) and was pleasantly surprised! it's actually good.

the other night we went to the last free belcourt movie of the season.

we were almost to Shakespeare in the park, but decided this would be more fun. we took burritos to eat, as usual.

little miss old lady face got to come! it's finally cool enough for her to be out again. she gets so much attention when we go out. and she loves it. what a precious baby.

they passed out glow sticks which are so fun to have at an outside movie for some reason. before the movie they played lots of funny old ads and previews.

the movie was turned up REALLY loud, so it wasn't as enjoyable as i wanted. and there was a stupid girl next to us who kept reciting movie lines, a few seconds before it was on screen. ugh i hate that!

after the movie we went to sweet cece's and got ice cream. it's open until midnight on the weekends! perfect! i love that place so much i've already filled up two frequent buyer cards.

we went to movies in the park. the weather was much nicer than it was for legally blond. it was actually nice to sit outside. we sat next to another pug! his name was woof woof. he was really cute.

Photobucket

ryan brought a related pez. NERD ALERT.

Photobucket

travis cut his hair. wah.

Photobucket

i got a cupcake again! it was even better than before. it had tons of strawberries in it. yummmm.

it was really crowded. but we had a great spot. the movie was wizard of oz! i hadn't seen it in a long time. i never realized before that the three farm hands were also the lion, tin man, and scarcrow. because apparently i was an idiot as a child.

Photobucket

it was so much more awesome that i remembered! i loved it!

Movies In the Park: Legally Blonde

yesterday we went to movies in the park again. the movie was legally blond. i'm not a huge fan of the movie, but watching anything in the park is fun!
Photobucket
i'm loving travis' new haircut so much. he is letting the top get long so he can do the pompadour thing, but i think it's pretty adorable all wavy on top.
Photobucket
it was super duper hot again (95!!!) so we debated a lot about taking rose, but since the sun was going down we decided to try it out. and she was so good! she was friendly to people and let everyone pet her. there was a dog a few blankets behind us that kept barking at her, but she mostly ignored him.

ahhhhhhh so cute!!!!! i just can't stand it sometimes. during the movie she was sitting in my lap facing me, and all i could really see were her eyes and her teeth and she looked just like toothless from how to train your dragon. so adorable.

then she almost pooped on someone's shoes. hahaha. so travis had to take her for a walk.

the most exciting/scary part was during the movie we heard two gun shots and then hundreds of people screaming from somewhere else in the park!!! it was so scary! there were police cars everywhere. the parthenon (which is in the park) is a huge gathering spot for tons of teenagers and apparently there have been shootings there before. i've been looking for a news story about it but haven't seen any. so maybe no one got hurt. hmmm.

here are some pictures from the day travis and i explored the historic square in our town, and went to the park to see mean girls. it was a pretty awesome day.

we ate lunch at a little place called square market. it's so tasty that i forgot to take a picture of my lunch! can you believe it? i had a blt and its the best one i've ever had. travis always gets cranberry chicken salad and this time he also got chicken queso soup. which was so freaking tasty! yum. and all the waitresses are old ladies and they are so nice.

we went to an antique store and i got a cheese box for our bills, and some old cook books. there was a lady selling shaved ice for a dollar, and i really regret not getting some! we saw the cute bike shop and went into this weird store full of used dvds for 2 dollars each! good ones! we got 12 movies i think, including I heart huckabess, son of ranbow once, a mighty wind, igby goes down, etc, etc. so fun.

we walked by the new barber shop and the guys were outside talking to people and handing out coupon. travis decided to get his hair cut and he loved it. they shaved him with a straight razor and trimmed his puffy sideburns. he looked so cute.

back home, travis made us sandwiches with the bread i made.

i finished my cake balls. i saw them on a food blog and was trying out the recipe for that baby shower i went too. that was my mean girls color combo.

but i ended up not making them. they taste good, but they are SO SWEET. too sweet. everyone just ate one. the cake/frosting/white chocolate is just tooooo much.

we got to the park really early so we could get a good seat. it was the last movie of the season. this one actually got rescheduled because when it was supposed to play it rained. i'm glad they rescheduled it.

mean girls means lots of pink. thankfully cara had three shades of pink nail polish in her purse. haha. i had to take mine off the next morning because it made my hands look so weird!

what a perfect night for a movie.
